Alfred Wainwright described Orton as ‘One of Westmorland‘s loveliest villages, a delightful rural settlement built around a central Green, with two streams crossed by numerous foot bridges and having many venerable buildings including a Saxon church on a knoll overlooking the village and the tranquil surrounding countryside’.
Come and discover this ancient settlement on a guided walk led by lifelong resident Kyle Blue, who will relate the history and fascinating tales of the village and its past residents. Optional refreshments afterwards at the Orton Scar cafe.
