Event Day(s):
Kirkby Stephen & District Walkers are Welcome
Kirkby Stephen & District Walkers are Welcome group has been an accredited member of the national ‘Walkers are Welcome’ scheme since 2009, meeting the criteria to truly welcome walkers both residents and visitors to the area. The group monitors and develops footpaths, organises walks and promotes walking in the area.
The group has been a mainstay of the Festival from the start and this year is no exception, with guided walks exploring the surrounding countryside of the Westmorland Dales as well as the town’s commercial and industrial heritage.
At the community and conservation groups fair on Sunday 27 July, the group will have both free and low priced walking literature available and a few extra giveaways to welcome you to their stall, which they will be sharing with the Northern Viaduct Trust. Please share your stories and experiences of walking in the area, your concerns and queries. We would all love to meet you.
