Meet just some of the stars of the Barnhill Donkeys' Retreat.
The retreat, at Sleagill, does wonderful work for the donkeys in their care, who have often been rescued from the worst possible conditions. They may have been abused in many ways, and require very intensive treatment and care to nurse them back to health.
A lot of them can be incredibly nervous when they first arrive, but the charity is able to rehabilitate them and over time they become more confident, friendly and eventually develop real characters. They love visitors and way they interact with school and nursery children and the joy they give them is wonderful to see.
